Artist in Residence

With distinct style, almost as instantly recognizable as her artwork, the home and studio of American legend Georgia O’Keeffe are a minimalists’ dream...

Her house in Abiquiu, New Mexico was lovingly restored by the artist in the 1940’s; and her studio at Ghost Ranch was her artistic haven. The stunning desert landscape that surrounded became her muse.

We have been combing through images of the adobe style home and studio, perfectly preserved, as they were when the artist was in residence.

From Architectural Digest

The buy of the century at only $10, the renovation of her home in Abiquiu carefully maintained the integrity of the pre Civil War structure. Throughout both of the infamous spaces raw touches of skulls and bones mixed with sophisticated furnishings was a bold decision, way ahead of its time.

Especially in the heat of the summer, we imagine ourselves emulating the unique style of O’Keeffe. In the meantime we are pinning our favorite design moments from the artist, and finding antiques that evoke the style of the American west to fill our showrooms.

From natural and found wall art to simple ceramics, Mid-Century sleek and simplistic wood furniture, BD Antiques has all the elements to create your own desert oasis.
